primax in four minutes

20 May 2016

With our new platform, primax™, our Signia brand has come to life. Read on to find out how primax is clinically-proven to reduce hearing strain or watch a short video introducing primax. Or both!

Top priority: Understanding speech better

The more interfering sounds there are, the more mental effort it takes to understand what you want to hear. To make hearing less of a strain, primax offers two additional features:

  • SpeechMaster singles out your conversation partner’s speech while suppressing all other sound sources, making speech easier to understand and reducing listening effort throughout the day.
  • EchoShield effectively reduces sound reflections that occur in reverberant rooms.

A new study shows that SpeechMaster and EchoShield are clinically-proven to reduce the listening effort required for hearing aid wearers to understand speech*.

HD Music for a voluminous and multi-layered sound

One of the primary purposes of hearing aids is to ensure that wearers can understand their conversation partners clearly. However, this often results in music sounding flat when listening to radio, CDs, or concerts. With primax, music becomes a real experience with a voluminous and multi-layered sound. There are three integrated HD Music programs: Live Music, Recorded Music, and for singers and musicians, the Musician setting.

CROS and BiCROS: Helping those with very different hearing losses

If you are completely deaf in one ear, you can still benefit from primax hearing aids. A CROS PureTM device worn on the unaidable ear wirelessly transmits the acoustic signals from this side to a hearing aid with primax technology on your hearing ear. If you also have aidable hearing loss in this ear, the CROS PureTM can also help. In this situation, the hearing aid with primax technology records the signals coming from both sides and processes them.

TwinPhone: Making telephone use easier

Making phone calls is easier with TwinPhone. As long as you are wearing a hearing aid in each ear, you can simply hold any telephone to one ear and the voice on the other end will be automatically transferred to both hearing aids.

*Study conducted at the University of Northern Colorado, 2015, examined the effectiveness of the new features of primax by collecting and analyzing ongoing EEG data while subjects performed speech testing. For both primax features SpeechMaster and EchoShield, the objective brain behavior measures revealed a significant reduction in listening effort when the feature was activated.
