New EDC: Important investment in Poland

Logistic Center in Poznan, Poland
  • Audiology technology leader Sivantos opened its first European logistics center in Komorniki near Poznán.
  • Over 130 people have already been hired at the European Distribution Center (EDC) and is still recruiting.
  • EDC ships over 2,000 packages with hearing aids, earmolds, and accessories every day.

The new European Distribution Center (EDC )is another big step for the Sivantos Group. Exactly one year ago, the company opened the European Manufacturing Center (EMC) in Poznán, moving its European production of custom-made hearing aids (ITE) and earmolds there. Logically the next step was to also open a new logistics center to support all European customers faster. About 370 employees work in the production and logistics centers, combined.

From the EDC warehouses, hearing aids and earmolds are shipped to the Netherlands, Great Britain, Switzerland, France, and Poland every day. Germany and Italy will soon join the recipient list. Additionally, the new EDC in Poland also supplies all European customers with batteries, chargers, and all accessories connected to hearing aids.

“Thanks to the centralization, we are now able to better manage the logistics processes. The team from Poznań services Europe, which supports our goals for efficiency and allows for faster production and shipment to our customers,” says Gennaro Cerra, Head of Operations Sivantos Poland. “From a business point of view, the combination of both production and logistics in Poznán was an excellent choice for the Sivantos Group. Here we have created the European heart of the group optimizing all our processes. Now we can effectively manage large projects and implement further improvement projects.”

Thanks to the EDC, Sivantos’ European customers can now profit from a significant decrease in lead time – regardless if the customer is a large chain or an independent hearing care professional.
